Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) provides faculty and students with state-of-the-art computational resources, enterprise storage, and high-speed wired and wireless networks.
Turing HPC Cluster
The cluster features 6,750 CPUs — ranging from Intel Scalable Platinum 8168 to Intel Xeon 6767P and AMD EPYC 9654 processors — and 64 TB of memory. It includes GPU-accelerated nodes with over 180 GPUs, among them 40× RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell and 16× H200 accelerators. The cluster connects to the WPI campus via 10 Gigabit links and uses 100 Gigabit Ethernet internally.

Inference Cluster
WPI also provides an inference cluster comprised of NVIDIA Spark systems and high-end Mac Studios, for users who need private, flexible, and cost-controlled access to AI capabilities without relying exclusively on external cloud services.
Enterprise Storage
WPI maintains a 2 PB high-performance, highly available, extensible Dell/Isilon storage array to support the research initiatives of the WPI community.
Support Team
The Academic & Research Computing (ARC) support team works closely with faculty and students engaged in research, and includes:
- Three scientific Application Scientists
- A computational scientist
- A Research Data Scientist
Applications
The ARC group provides all researchers with access to major applications, including:
- MATLAB
- Ansys · Fluent
- Abaqus
- COMSOL
- Intel Suite of Compilers
- Portland Group (PGI) Compilers
- …and a host of other major applications
Campus Networking
WPI supports a redundant high-speed Ethernet backbone, wireless networking, and high-speed internet connectivity, including a connection to Internet2. The University is classified as one of two GigaPOP connectors for Massachusetts and offers Internet2 connectivity to other universities, K–12 schools, museums, and businesses in the Worcester and Boston areas.
